EDWARDS, Douglas - November 25, 1925 - July 7, 2002. Passed away in his home, of Lawn, NF, Douglas Edwards, age 76, retired fisherman. Douglas worked for most of his life as both an inshore and off-shore fisherman. He loved the Atlantic and the many challenges the sea threw at him. His reputation as one of the best fisherman to sail the seas, extended as far as Nova Scotia and BC, where those who had the privilege of working with him, respected and admired his great skills and abilities in the industry, as well as his keen insight into human nature, and his desire to help anyone who needed him. Many of his colleagues stopped by over the years to thank him for his quick-thinking and reaction in heavy seas, that saved their lives and their vessel. His other great passion in life was the country. With a gleam in his eye, his nap sack on his back; and his rifle and shotgun in hand, he would head out for a moose hunting trip in the "Devil`s Kitchen". He loved the peace and serenity the woods offered, as well as a boil up and good yarn and laugh with his hunting partners. Douglas was predeceased by his parents Esther and Celestine Edwards; his brothers: Thomas, Leonard, Stephen, Celestine and George; his sisters: Evelina, Esther, Hannah, Sue, Veronica. He leaves to mourn his companion, Lucy; daughter Esther; granddaughter Kerri-Lyn; sister Celeste (Less) Groves; many nieces and nephews, whose lives he touched; sisters-in-law: Gloria Edwards and Mary Edwards.
We will forever miss his infectious laugh, keen sense of humour, helping hand and the great yarns we so often enjoyed with him. A light in our lives has burnt out. Until we meet again, we will weather the storm.

Miss Me - But Let Me Go When I come to the end of the road, And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room, Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little - but not too long, And not with your head bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me - but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take, And each must go alone, It`s all a part of the Master`s plan, A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, Go to the friends we know, And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds, Miss me - but let me go. Loved and remembered by family and friends.

I will look up at you from the eyes of little children; I will meet you in the swaying boughs of bud-thrilled trees, and caress you with the passionate sweep of storm-filled winds; I will give you strength in your upward tread of everlasting hills; I will speak to you out of the rhymes of the masters; I will dance with you in the lilt of the violin, All these have made me happy; They are part of me; I shall become a part of them.
